When Windows Vista will be launched, DirectX 10 will be launched and will have many new features: Geometry clipmaps: Terrain rendering using nested regular grids: This is said to reduce the amount of space the map occupies, a 40 GB map of the united states was reduced in space by 10, so it fitted and occupied 4 gb, so this means that maps could be bigger by much in future games, but occupy much space for now. Also, the textures would be easier to apply in the terrains, so there would be better world maps and level transitions, water to fire, jungle to ice, etc. Lapped textures: A new mapping method for textures, instead of being uniform, the mapping can curve for some uses such as paths. Silhouette Mapping: An approach to anime, it can render external contours, there could also be internal but the mesh, I mean the object that would be used, should be separated in some subobjects. Parallel controllable texture synthesis: This can be used to manipulate textures for use in the game. ZZZ... I want to sleep(at the time I wrote this), so this is all and the important ones. I read this information from: research.microsoft.com/~hoppe/Daioh:Great Daioh! DirectX10 is Daioh like Azumanga Daioh

Look, if I'm not able to sell the games that have those stuffs to you, what makes you think you can sell the thing alone to me?

In DirectX case, is to care of the new features, not how you would get it, it comes everywhere. However, as it evolves, the difference is not appreciated, except in this case
