To those beneath a dungeon I am joy. To those fully beneath my gaze, I can be Hell.

Just don't ask for a very precise meaning for "fully beneath my gaze", imagine 50 degrees, or better, really really close to it. LOL

If it's not the sun it could be a form of heat.

No, heat itself doesn't works, it has to be a joy to those in a dungeon, so it has to make light, before you say something like a fire or something, there's definitely no way you can be fully *beneath* its *gaze*, it needs to be big and up of you.

Some kind of torch or candelabrum (not sure this word is correctly used).

You sure always want to be right, hey, you're getting on my nerve with stupid possibilities, I already told you, you can't feel hell fully beneath the gaze of a torch, and a torch is not joy to a guy in a dungeon, since they actually USE THEM INSIDE! a candelabrum is just as useless.
