A 28 years old coran guy only recognized by the name of "Lee" died after playing more than 50 hours in a role, in a public coffee shop or something similar, witnesses say he just stopped playing to go to the bathroom and for short naps, so I suppose he eated and played at the same time.
He supposedly quirted his job "to play more time", as he said, when his friends looked for him because his mother was worried he said "I'll go home when I finish the game" and when he finished a few moments later, he died.
Specialists think he died by a heart attack due to tiredness, since his brain got too much information and stopped working correctly.

The true darkness......
Hello folks, Mephistopheles made a point here, some videogames are quite adictive and people sometimes take it too lightly. There´s this game called: Eternal Darkness, for GC. The plot is about many crusades, trying to defeat evil across time. But the true sinister part comes in the health system. Where you risk your own health, called psychological Thriller, this game will test your sanity. If you get hit a lot and loose a lot of health or/and die, You´ll start seeing things in the game that you didn´t. Fighting enemies that arent there, so you hit the nothing. Or you´ll check your inventory and find it empty. Or the controls won´respond. Suddenly you´re playing and realize you´re entering a room. To conclude, Eternal Darkness it´s a mature game for its well deserved psycological realistic feeling that every time you loose you approach to insanity, and it is proofed too.
I´d like to know if this is a myth or not, but I have sources that it is true, if I´m wrong, please send me a PM.

It's not a myth, I suppose I should have posted some source or something... whatever, I saw it on the news (CNN) and it also appeared in the newspaper (I read "El Norte", newspaper for Monterrey city, Mexico) which helped me to remember well the story.

You can't remember that I told you this story long time ago, right Mephistopheles. Date - Sender - Reader - Message ------------------------------------------ 09/08/2005 05:43:28 p.m. ;)Link(M) Mephistopheles SEOUL (Reuters) - A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday. The 28-year-old man, identified only by his family name Lee, had been playing on-line battle simulation games at the cybercafe in the southeastern city of Taegu, police said. Lee had planted himself in front of a computer monitor to play on-line games on August 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the toilet and take brief naps on a makeshift bed, they said. "We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone. Lee had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games, the daily JoongAng Ilbo reported after interviewing former work colleagues and staff at the Internet cafe. After he failed to return home, Lee's mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the cafe, Lee said he would finish the game and then go home, the paper reported. He died a few minutes later, it said. South Korea, one of the most wired countries in the world, has a large and highly developed game industry. 09/08/2005 05:43:29 p.m. ;)Link(M) Mephistopheles read 09/08/2005 05:45:08 p.m. Mephistopheles ;)Link(M) ok, that guy is very crazy,or better said, he was ---------------------------------------------------------- And here's a source and the source of the source(LOL).

I can´t edit but it´s Didn´t remember, geez Mephistopheles, try a lil harder next time, there´s a spellcheck below the reply part. It could proove useful young decipherer.
By the way, the myth is not about the man in Seoul, but of the game Eternal Darkness.

You're trying to correct my spelling? let me remind you that my spelling is much better than yours: didn't remembered means that now that I read it again I remember, the spelling is perfect because remembered is the past of remember, so spell check does nothing, you're the one that should use the spell check since you're using accents instead of apostrophes, you even misspelled spell check, read it between preview and reset, and you'll see.
And it's not a myth, stop saying that.

And it's not a myth, stop saying that. [glow=purple,5,300]I think you need glasses, because he meant about the GCN game, not about the man that died. (RIP)[/glow]

Ok, this thread is a fact, about a man dying, Link posted the full note, Eternal Darkness myths or whatever are off-topic, still, nobody stated anything about any myth, the thread is not about a myth and myths are definitely not going to be considered in this thread.
As you can clearly read, this has nothing to do with GCN either.

Mephistopheles is right, this has nothing to do with the topic of the thread. But if you want to talk about the game, create a thread on its correct category. About the "Sanity Meter", yep its true. But there are a lot more things that happen than what you just said.

mmm... the admin is more than a month behind ... I think that was too late link ... Anyway ... I'm kinda late too XD That article about the man death because of playing for too long ... Well it is an example of a VG adiction .... Try not to get adicted to a game .... let it be more games.
Kinda offtopic ... Mephistopeles went a little crazy with the myth not myth stuff. Perseus did mention the possibility of it being a myth before Link posted the whole article with source.

Extremely late, yeah.
Hey, give me a break, Calumon even defended Perseus and that made me angry, it is completely offtopic anyway.
This thread is still active? amazing.
