Tetris Goes Wi-FiNintendo's bringing back Tetris in a big way: dual screen and over the internet.by Craig Harris January 10, 2006 - Nearly 20 years ago Nintendo packed Tetris in with its brand new Game Boy handheld, and the rest was history. This year, the company plans to do something even bigger with the immensely successful and popular Tetris franchise for a new audience: the company's taking it online. Coming March 20th is Tetris DS, a game that's been rumored to be on the board for more than a year. This version of Tetris will feature a classic Nintendo theme, paying homage to past Nintendo franchises such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid in the game's worlds. The DS version will support a whopping ten players locally, supporting single cartridge multiplayer for those nine other non-cartridge DS owners. The real kicker is that Tetris DS will fully support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Two player and Four player battles are possible online via the free service, and the game will record and display online rankings earned during the battles. It's not the first time the game's gone online (Tetris Worlds for the Xbox and even the unofficial Netris for the PC have had the ability for years), but it shows that Nintendo's dedicated to the Wi-Fi service for 2006 to get what's considered the most popular puzzle game working on it. We'll have more on Tetris DS as we get closer to its March 20th release. Source

Well, it was about time, no Nintendo handheld console can be complete without Tetris I say. (and don't start correcting me if there is one ok)

Tetris DSNew details on the Nintendo DS puzzler, hitting shelves this March.by Craig Harris January 27, 2006 - When the Game Boy was first introduced in 1989, its success could have been indirectly have been attributed to one important factor: Tetris, one of the most pick-up-and-play games ever created, was the pack-in game during a time when every console had a pack-in game. It alone may have single-handedly sent the new platform into the stratosphere, which, in turn, made the game one of the most successful videogame designs ever. Versions have come and gone, and the franchise has leapt from publisher to publisher in the past fifteen years, but it's come full circle with Tetris DS. Nintendo will publish this game on March 20th, and the company promises that it will be something truly special. It's hard to believe that there's anyone out there that doesn't understand the Tetris way of life yet, but it wouldn't be a preview without offering up at least the basics of the game design. Tetris is one of the first "falling tile" puzzle games ever created, and easily kickstarted the genre that inspired the likes of Puyo Pop, Super Puzzle Fighter, and Magical Drop. In Tetris, the task is to maneuver descending pieces into a bin, quickly rotating them 90 degrees in order to slot them in a way that forms a full horizontal line. When that line's complete…poof! No more line. Each Tetris piece, called a tetromino, is the arrangement of four "blocks" in every possible configuration. Skillfully stacking them up can, hopefully, make it possible to cause multiple lines to disappear at the same time. Nintendo's not just publishing Tetris DS and calling it a day. The company is truly Nintendo-izing the product by theming all the levels with old-school Nintendo IPs. You'll play levels featuring Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Metroid…even Balloon Fight gets into the act. All the visuals and sounds will be ripped right out of the old school games and placed right into this Tetris experience. The classic Tetris mode, for example, will be branded with Super Mario Bros, complete with Mario running around Mushroom Kingdom on the upper screen while the puzzle action happens down below. But this game isn't just about the presentation. Nintendo will be going all out making this the epitome of a Tetris production. Classic Tetris will be included, but the company also promises a whole slew of new modes and ways to play the game. Nintendo recently revealed that players will have a mode of play called "Touch" where they'll use the touch screen to maneuver and rotate the Tetris pieces into a two screen high bin. Of course, one of the coolest features of Tetris DS is its multiplayer support. Grab as many as nine other DS owners in the same room, because this game will support up to ten players in a local network chain that only needs one copy of the game. Even better, get yourself to a Wi-Fi hotspot, because you'll be able to compete against as many as three other players anywhere in the world via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service…free of charge. Nintendo will slowly reveal more about Tetris DS as we creep closer to the game's March 20th release date. Source

You could've deleted that part or something. You have to accept anyway whomever doesn't knows how to play Teris shouldn't call himself a gamer.

Probably the same amount as other DS games, which I currently can't remember.
And Gamemaniac, you should try getting the GBA game "Dr. Mario/Puzzle League" if you want to get recent Dr. Mario game.
