Readers Pick Two Revolution Colors
More than 25,000 readers have voted. What colors are the most popular?
by Matt Casamassina
September 29, 2005 - Just two days ago IGNcube asked readers which Revolution color they liked the best in a well-trafficked poll. The choices, ripped directly from Nintendo's official pictures of the console, included glossy white, midnight black, dark gray, red, and lime green. So which color won and which one barely garnered enough votes to mention? Keep reading.
Nearly 80% of more than the 25,000 readers who took part in the poll picked either midnight black or glossy white as their Revolution color of choice. In fact, the colors nearly tied. Approximately 9,650 people or 38.5% of participants voted for the glossy white Revolution that looks as though it has been directly inspired by the Apple iPod. Meanwhile, 9,980 or 39.7% of voters decided that the original black design is still their favorite.
The remaining colors took comparatively paltry percentages of votes. Dark gray received 2,060 votes for an 8.1% share of participants. Red grabbed 1,842 votes and a 7.3% of participants. And lime green came in dead last with 1,592 votes or 6.3% of readers.
The poll results seem to reflect the opinion of Nintendo itself, which first chose to spotlight the Revolution in midnight black and later decided to highlight it in glossy white.
If it weren't clear already, it looks as though black and white are becoming the frontrunners for possible Revolution launch colors, at least based on positioning by the Big N and reactions of gamers.
