Microsoft Developing For Nintendo DS Posted by Deren Smith on 08 Jul 2005 - 01:12 Job listings for internal studio Rare confirm the software giant is making games for its archrival's latest handheld. Last week, rumors began to surface that the Xbox 360 would allow gamers to download Micrsoft-developed games onto Nintendo's DS handheld. Given that Nintendo's handhelds are its main source of revenue, Microsoft creating new content for the DS would be giving ammunition to its archrival in the current- and next-generation console wars. Such a move struck many industry-watchers as being highly unlikely, if not outright lunacy. However, it now appears that Microsoft may be crazy like a fox. This week, evidence surfaced confirming that the company is indeed developing games for the DS. It came in the form of two job listings on the official Web site for Rare Ltd., the Britain-based developer of Conker: Live and Reloaded for the Xbox and Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox 360. Rare is wholly owned by Microsoft, and is part of its Microsoft Game Studios suite of internal developers, which also includes Halo-makers Bungie Software. Source

It sounds like giving your enemy an advantage, however, there could be wrong information or secret information, or let's say, Nintendo doesn't necessarily has to be an enemy of Microsoft, maybe Microsoft is looking for a way to improve their image, there could be an arrangement between the two companies or something different.
Think about it, if you can download Microsoft games in a DS, you're still buying the game from Microsoft and Nintendo is enhancing their sells, in some ways, it's not lunatic, Nintendo could sell more DS's with this, but how is it transferred? if it's from X-Box or X-Box 360 to the DS, you still need the X-Box or X-Box 360 to transfer it onto your DS, also if most of the liked games for DS are from Microsoft (that could be arguable), they are owning the market, not Nintendo.
Um, wait, doesn't Microsoft needs a license from Nintendo to use their hardware? Nintendo could sew Microsoft for illegal distribution, or something like that if Microsoft doesn't has the license.

Well, Microsoft only considers Sony as their rival because they both have the idea that "graphics better than gameplay and fun".
Mmm... This gives us the possibility of seeing a Perfect Dark(remake) or a Perfect Dark Zero on DS.

Who can say something so stupid!?
For an RPG fan and expert such as me, the gameplay, the story and the difficulty are the main factors that decide if the game is good or not.

[glow=purple,5,300]Well, from what I know, Microsoft even called the next generation of videogames, "The HD Era", meaning that they will be concentrating more on the look of the games' graphics than any other factor.
I agree with you that the best factors of a game are it's gameplay, story, and challenge. The visuals are just an extra, that if used correctly, might make the game better.[/glow]

[glow=purple,5,300]LOL, you're right, I went off-topic.
Well, I think it is possible that Microsoft can create games for DS, but using their next home console to connect to the DS; it's just part of their plan to eliminate Sony's consoles. But for the connectivity between XBox 360 and DS, I think they should ask for Nintendo's permission first.
I believe this should not be considered a rumor since on Rare's site they are saying this:[/glow]
